Swedes and Finns in America Since 1638 Festival

The Swedes and Finns in America Since 1638 Festival will feature Swedish and Finnish music, culture, food and family fun. Music during the day will include Swedish and Finnish pop and folk groups, as well as a portion with DJ & Karaoke Master Lars. Additional family fun will include traditional Scandinavian games, food and gifts, and tours aboard a docked re-creation of the ship that brought Finnish and Swedish settlers to the Delaware Valley.

The New Sweden Alliance will host a Jubilee Symphonic Concert at the Independence Seaport Museum. The concert features musicians from Philadelphia, the Delaware Symphony, and Finland, led by maestro David Amado, and Finnish pianist Marja Kaisla, in music by Sibelius, Wiren and Beethoven (Piano concerto #5, "Emperor"). A gala reception will follow the concert. The evening will end with a traditional Scandinavian bonfire by the Delaware River. For gala tickets, visit www.375th.org.
