Nordic International Film Festival

Wildlike Best Picture NIFF

The Nordic International Film Festival (NIFF) was a successful inaugural event packed with an incredible audience. Over 500 attendees and over 20 filmmakers gathered for two full days at the renowned Scandinavia House in New York.

NIFF2015 included 7 world premiers and many North American premiers in their 22 film screening line up from their Official Selection. What made NIFF feel like a long run established festival right from the start was the warm welcome and organized team as well as the extremely high amount of attending filmmakers that flew in just for NIFF.

Representatives, Producers, Directors and Actors made their way to Scandinavia House in New York from Germany, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Denmark, England and from all over the US.

NIFF’s Q and A’s with the filmmakers and the award ceremony hosted by Jacob A Ware (Boardwalk Empire) on November 1st were extremely popular and Jacob put on a great show in combination with some honored filmmakers accepting their prizes.

FACE Stockholm, the main sponsor, offered prizes to all winners as well as goodie bags for all the guests.

The founder and festival Director John Matton ran the festival together with Linnea Larsdotter, Co-founder, Creative Director and Head of Programming. The event would not have been such a success without their on-point volunteers, mentors and in particular Rebecca Steele, Festival Coordinator and Programmer.

“Many US and Scandinavian established filmmakers, actors and celebrities attended the Red carpet and gala event, but they also attended many screenings and supported the festival. That is exactly what we wanted at NIFF, to give our everything towards the filmmakers and I’m so glad we could help so many talented directors, show case their work and also that so many industry people and filmmakers could meet and attend each others screenings for this two day event in New York. We’re hoping for 3 days next year,” said John Matton, Festival Director and Founder of NIFF.
